A new opportunity with Birds’ Eye View
This year, I am pleased to join the Reclaim The Frame project as a film ambassador! The Birds’ Eye View project –– backed by the British Film Institute (BFI) –– aims to grow the audiences for films by womxn and ultimately, widen cinema’s perspective on the world.
I’ll admit that the articles we’ve showcased on the website so far have not featured nearly enough femxle filmmakers. I regret that. I look back onto my film education and can see where the examination of the femxle gaze was missing. I’m really excited to start shifting the perspective now. So The Theory Goes was always meant to be a place where film fans could go to expand their film knowledge and dig deeper into storytelling. This opportunity will go a long way to presenting a fuller picture of feature filmmaking.

Over the coming months, I look forward to discussing more films with you including Melina Matsoukas’ Queen & Slim, Clemency starring Alfre Woodard, and Women Make Film, the road film/documentary all about female auteurs throughout history.
If the films (and our reviews) resonate with you, be sure to share them along too!
