On the surface, Tyler is a short film about a young boy who falls in love with the girlfriend of his older brother, but after watching, you realise it is a lot deeper than that. The film looks into themes such as: looking up to an older sibling/role model, and also the difficulties of being a child on the verge of adolescence. This film could have gone the traditional way of telling the story, but instead was told though an experimental style which makes it stand out from other coming of age stories of a similar style.
